Urban Park Regeneration, Dison
Appointment of a multidisciplinary design team to complete and deliver a permitted urban park regeneration project in central Dison, Belgium.
The Commune of Dison has launched the regeneration of a 6,050 m² brownfield site in the heart of the town, formerly occupied by economic activities, to create a new landscaped urban park that reconnects the lower town along Rue Albert 1er with the upper slopes and surrounding neighbourhoods. Conceived as a civic landscape infrastructure project, the scheme introduces a sequence of terraces responding to the site’s topography, forming a public park structured around a central square, multi-generational play and sports areas, terraced orchards, community allotments, informal lawns, and planted buffer zones. An urban lift establishes an accessible vertical link between the lower and upper levels of the town, complemented by pedestrian routes, ramps suitable for cycles and pushchairs, new stair connections, and integrated car and cycle parking. Sustainable drainage strategies are embedded within the landscape through infiltration zones and planted depressions, reinforcing biodiversity and improving environmental performance.
Planning permission has already been developed to permit stage, and the appointed multidisciplinary design team will assume the project at detailed design stage, preparing the works tender documentation and delivering full construction supervision through to final completion. The commission includes demolition of existing structures, site remediation works, coordination of structural and infrastructure elements (including highways and drainage), delivery of the urban lift, and the integration of health and safety coordination throughout both design and construction phases. Operating within a fixed construction budget of €4,025,000 (excluding VAT) and supported by regional funding programmes, the project positions landscape as both a social catalyst and a connective urban device, redefining the civic identity of Dison’s town centre while strengthening links between its upper and lower quarters.
