The Rīga City Development Department is seeking landscape architectural services through an open design contest for the comprehensive development and preservation of Esplanade Park in Rīga, Latvia. The project's core objective is to maintain the park's existing cultural, historical, and natural values while implementing new urban planning and architectural design solutions. Proposals should address functional and spatial planning, ensuring harmony with the urban context, efficient flow organisation, and environmental accessibility. Key considerations include enhancing biodiversity and integrating climate resilience principles. The design solutions for pathways, squares, and landscaping, along with architectural concepts, must demonstrate originality, seamless integration into the city and park landscape, high aesthetic quality, accessibility, and long-term sustainability. The competition also requires innovative proposals for event and environmental object placement concepts, alongside rational solutions for construction and ongoing maintenance. The jury's decision is binding, and a subsequent service contract will be awarded to one of the winning participants.
