District Management, Darmstadt
Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt is establishing an interdisciplinary district management team in Germany to enhance living quality and social cohesion within the Waldkolonie/Akazienweg area. Deadline 11 Sep 2026
The Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt is launching a significant urban development initiative within the Waldkolonie/Akazienweg district, part of Germany's "Social Cohesion" federal-state programme. This project aims to improve the quality of life, strengthen social infrastructure, and foster community ties in a disadvantaged area. Following the development of an Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) by early 2026, an interdisciplinary district management team, comprising a Stadtteilmanagement and a Stadtteilwerkstatt, will be established. This team will coordinate both the structural-planning and social-integrative aspects of the programme. The Stadtteilmanagement will specifically oversee strategic project steering, financial management, and public relations, acting as a trustee for the funding. The project is set to commence in Q4 2026 with an initial duration of eight years, including an option for a five-year extension, ensuring a sustained effort to revitalise the district.
