Sports Stadium Redesign, Bassendean
Architect-led design tender for a staged redevelopment of Bassendean Oval into a modern football, civic, community and commercial precinct in Bassendean, Australia.
The Bassendean Oval Stage 2 Redevelopment is a major civic and sporting infrastructure project led by the Town of Bassendean in Western Australia. The project seeks architectural design services to advance the redevelopment of the historic Bassendean Oval precinct at 140 Old Perth Road, home to the Swan Districts Football Club. Following the completion of a feasibility study and concept masterplan, the project will progress through concept and schematic design stages to transform the ageing sporting grounds into a contemporary, multi-use community destination that supports professional football, civic functions and everyday public use. The redevelopment aims to replace outdated facilities that no longer meet modern standards for accessibility, inclusivity and operational performance, while retaining and integrating heritage elements within the precinct.
The masterplan envisions a staged redevelopment that combines new football and community facilities with civic and commercial uses, including a new pavilion and club facilities, community spaces such as a library and hall, improved public realm, and complementary amenities that support local activity. The design must also respond to key planning, heritage and sustainability considerations, including the protection and integration of historic structures such as the Bill Walker Stand, RA McDonald Stand and the heritage gates. The appointed lead design consultant will develop the project from concept design through schematic design and potentially later delivery stages, coordinating a multidisciplinary design team and working closely with the Town, stakeholders and the quantity surveyor to ensure the scheme can be delivered in stages and within the established project budget.
