Sports Park Upgrade, Coolah
Design and construct upgrade of sporting amenities at Bowen Oval, including refurbishment of change rooms and installation of playground safety fencing in Coolah, Australia.
The Bowen Oval Facilities Upgrade is a design and construct project commissioned by Warrumbungle Shire Council to revitalise community sporting infrastructure in the rural town of Coolah, New South Wales. Bowen Oval is a key recreational venue supporting organised sport, local events and everyday community use, yet its existing amenities have reached the end of their functional life. The project seeks to modernise these facilities through the refurbishment of four existing change rooms and associated dressing sheds, delivering upgraded showers, plumbing and electrical systems, improved finishes and durable fixtures suited to high-use sporting environments. The works aim to enhance safety, accessibility and hygiene standards while ensuring compliance with current Australian building regulations and accessibility requirements.
Delivered as a design and construct contract, the project invites contractors to develop detailed documentation and undertake the refurbishment works, including internal reconfiguration of the amenities, installation of epoxy flooring and wet-area finishes, and upgrades to building services. Additional interventions include the construction of a new brick privacy wall adjacent to two of the change rooms and the installation of pool-style safety fencing around the playground to improve safety within the sporting precinct. Funded through EnergyCo’s Community and Employment Benefit Program, the upgrade forms part of the council’s broader commitment to delivering inclusive, durable and low-maintenance public facilities that support long-term participation in sport and recreation across the Warrumbungle Shire.
