Senior Residence and Affordable Housing Development, Trappes
Design team sought for senior housing and affordable residential development with public amenities in Trappes, France, through a competitive dialogue tender.
The project involves the design and delivery of a mixed residential development in Trappes, in the Yvelines region of France, commissioned by the social housing provider Apilogis. The scheme brings together a non-medicalised senior living residence comprising approximately 50–70 apartments with an integrated staff dwelling, alongside a separate building of 30–35 affordable homes delivered under shared ownership and controlled price mechanisms. Set along Avenue Henri Barbusse, the development also incorporates external public realm elements, including a children’s play area, contributing to a broader residential environment that responds to both ageing populations and first-time buyers.
Conceived as a new-build project within a suburban urban context, the proposal is guided by principles of affordability, functional efficiency and regulatory compliance, including energy performance standards aligned with RE2020. The design team will be appointed through a competitive dialogue procedure, reflecting the client’s ambition to refine architectural, technical and economic solutions collaboratively. The brief emphasises rational layouts, optimised dwelling sizes, and robust, low-maintenance construction, while ensuring high-quality living environments that balance cost constraints with spatial quality and long-term usability.
