School Expansion and Sports Facilities, Berlin
A major project in Berlin, Germany, will expand and renovate school buildings, sports halls, and outdoor facilities at the Sandinostraße site. This comprehensive initiative, part of the Berlin School Building Offensive, involves significant construction and refurbishment across four distinct phases. Deadline 21 Sep 2026
The Bezirksamt Lichtenberg is undertaking a substantial construction project at the Sandinostraße 8, 10 school campus in Berlin. This holistic measure encompasses the expansion, replacement, and renovation of existing schools and sports halls, alongside a complete renewal of the outdoor facilities. The project is structured into four functional construction phases, with the scope including planning services (HOAI LPH 5 – execution planning), workshop and assembly planning, and all necessary construction works. Key elements of the project involve the construction of a new 9,950 m² extension building for the Integrated Secondary School (ISS), featuring six compartment clusters, specialist classrooms for science, technology, textiles, and cooking, as well as a library and an inclusion area. Additionally, barrier-free access additions of approximately 250 m² each will be built for the existing primary school (GS) and ISS buildings. The plan also includes the demolition of a 1,630 m² multi-purpose room, a 1,520 m² sports hall from the 1970s, and a 1,790 m² sports hall from the 1990s. New community hubs will be constructed for both the ISS and GS, each approximately 4,300 m², incorporating canteens, multi-purpose rooms on the ground floor, and three-field sports halls on the upper floor. The project concludes with the comprehensive renewal of all outdoor areas and the establishment of new sports facilities across all phases.
