The University of Rhode Island is embarking on a significant project to renovate and expand its Memorial Union, a central facility on campus. This initiative seeks a Design Agent to provide a full suite of architectural and engineering services, covering all aspects of the building's transformation. The comprehensive scope includes initial site surveys, geotechnical, civil, and landscape architecture, alongside detailed architectural and interior design. Key engineering disciplines such as structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection are integral, as are specialised areas like information technology, telecommunications, security, and advanced lighting and acoustical design. The appointed team will also manage audio-visual systems, independent cost estimating, building code compliance, and LEED certification to ensure a sustainable outcome. Further services include graphic design, signage, wayfinding, and the complete design and coordination of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). This extensive project aims to modernise and enhance the Memorial Union, creating an improved facility for the university community.
