The Town of Narrows in the USA initiates a major community resilience project, developing green space, a public safety complex, and a community hub. Deadline 06 Oct 2026
The Town of Narrows is undertaking a significant Community Resilience Initiative, seeking two-year implementation support for the project. This ambitious programme includes the acquisition of 1.75 acres of non-floodplain land to revitalise an existing industrial area, aiming to eliminate blight and create vital green spaces. The acquired land will host a future public safety complex and a community resilience hub, serving as a focal point for the community. The initiative also involves developing pedestrian-friendly public greenspaces, a public pavilion, and pedestrian trails to enhance outdoor access, reduce auto emissions, and improve community health. Design elements will incorporate climate-resilient materials, native plantings, and green infrastructure principles for stormwater management. Furthermore, the project encompasses land studies and planning for future higher-density, multi-family residential options, promoting downtown revitalisation through mixed land uses and pedestrian elements. The comprehensive plan also explores the reuse and redevelopment of vacant or underutilised properties and buildings, focusing on reducing blight and planning for energy-efficient housing.
