Campus Althangrund Urban and Architectural Competition
A two-stage urban and architectural design competition for the transformation and expansion of Campus Althangrund into a central educational and research hub in Vienna, Austria.
The Campus Althangrund project in Vienna involves the redevelopment and expansion of the existing UZA I building (a former university campus and bio centre) to accommodate multiple institutions: University of Vienna, BOKU (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences), HTL and AHS schools, as well as shared facilities including libraries, lecture halls, dining areas, sports zones, and logistics infrastructures. The project aims to strengthen the urban context through sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient development principles. It includes laboratories, teaching areas, office spaces, and extensive public and recreational zones. It integrates sustainability goals, circular economy principles, and future-proof spatial configurations for interdisciplinary learning and research.
