New Nursing Home & Housing, Munich
Germany's Kreszentia-Stift plans a new 150-bed nursing home in Munich, converting existing facilities into student and staff accommodation. Deadline 27 Oct 2026
Kreszentia-Stift, a traditional residential and nursing home in central Munich operating since 1859, is undertaking a significant redevelopment. The existing multi-building complex, which includes both full-time care and accessible living options, largely no longer meets contemporary and future requirements for modern care, support, and living concepts. Current layouts, room sizes, access routes, technical systems, and energy/fire safety standards are only partially compliant. Extensive studies have confirmed the necessity for a complete overhaul, with the construction of a new nursing home as the central component. This new facility will provide approximately 150 full-time care places, organised into manageable living groups. Furthermore, the two existing main buildings (House 2 and House 3) will be repurposed, specifically to create housing for staff and students, and potentially a kindergarten. The project scope encompasses new construction, renovation, and conversion measures, alongside the reorganisation of internal and external access, functional integration of building sections, and the design of outdoor spaces for residents, staff, and visitors. The Stift also aims to open up to the surrounding neighbourhood.
