Neurological Rehabilitation Modernisation, Bottrop
Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bottrop GmbH in Germany is undertaking a significant modernisation of its neurological early rehabilitation unit, enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. Deadline 28 Sep 2026
Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bottrop GmbH is embarking on a comprehensive project to expand and modernise its neurological early rehabilitation unit. Located on the ground floor of the main hospital building at Osterfelder Str. 157, Bottrop, the initiative involves extensive object planning services for phases 3-8 of the HOAI (German fee schedule for architects and engineers). The primary objective is to create a contemporary and functionally optimised ward that meets the specific demands of neurological early rehabilitation. This includes designing for short distances for nursing and therapy services, clear internal orientation, and a therapeutic environment conducive to patient recovery. The project aims to streamline operational workflows and significantly improve the quality of stay for patients. While there will be no expansion of the building footprint, the existing building services and fire protection systems will be adapted to the new uses. Planning will also integrate considerations for energy efficiency, sustainability, operational safety, ease of maintenance, and climate adaptation. The architectural planning will be closely coordinated with specialist planners for technical building equipment (TGA), structural engineering, building physics, fire protection, and medical technology, as well as the hospital's operational requirements. A key challenge involves executing the modernisation while the hospital remains fully operational, necessitating careful planning for temporary arrangements, construction phases, system changeovers, and operational coordination to ensure continuous medical care.
