Antoniushaus gGmbH is seeking planning services for the renovation of the existing Peter-Josef-Briefs School in Hochheim am Main, Germany. The school currently serves 166 pupils with physical and motor development support needs.
The project will upgrade the existing school building to the KfW Efficiency Building 55 energy standard. A separate extension is already under construction and is not included in this commission; the renovation of the existing building is planned to follow its completion. The commission covers the first three service phases under Germany's HOAI framework for building and interior design, encompassing initial project definition, preliminary design and design development. Particular emphasis will be placed on upgrading the building envelope, including the façade, roof, windows and external doors, alongside the renewal or optimisation of building services. Interventions to the interiors, structure and circulation are to be limited to those strictly necessary.
The appointed team will work closely with specialist consultants already engaged on the project, incorporating their existing studies and coordinating interfaces between disciplines. The commission also requires a detailed, itemised cost estimate structured to support the project's funding application and subsequent cost planning, alongside assistance with securing grant funding. The cost documentation must be completed by April 2027. Further planning services covering HOAI phases 4–9 are expected to be procured separately through an EU-wide tender in autumn 2027, with the renovation of the existing building planned to proceed after completion of the new extension.
