University of Worcester Cricket Centre
The University of Worcester is seeking an architect to develop concept plans for a new indoor cricket centre.
The University is seeking to expand the work it carries out in disability sports and is seeking to create the International Inclusive Centre for Inclusive Cricket (International Inclusive Cricket and Education Centre). This centre will provide opportunities for players of all abilities, will look to expand the number of females participating in the game and look to become the home of disability cricket in the UK (blind cricket, deaf cricket, learning disability cricket and, physical disability cricket). It is anticipated the new facility will be:
- Robustly designed to enable regular intensive use year round.
- Well connected to the existing Campus.
- Provision of an indoor 4 net space, which is to incorporate a tension net system.
- Provision of an adjoining but separate additional 2 net space primarily for blind cricket but also for motion capture work / Bio-mechanical labs.
- Changing facilities.
- Highly sustainable, to achieve EPC A.
- Extensive padding up area and storage space for players bags.
- Offices and ancillary accommodation.
- Storage space for equipment.
- Storage for biomechanical equipment.
- Debriefing area which can be used as a teaching area.
- Fully inclusive to all from grassroots to elite athletes.
- The building needs to benefit from natural light and well-controlled artificial lighting.
- Playing surface and environment in line with ECB requirements.

Submission Criteria
Qualitative Criteria:
– Proposed Team – C.V’s of the proposed team, providing evidence of experience in the wider Architectural requirements of this project.
– Comprehensive risk register, with commentary as to what the Architectural Consultant considers to be the main risks potentially affecting the successful coemption of this project.
– Evidence of the experience of the proposed team working on and delivering relevant, recent (from 2021 onwards) sports and sporting teaching facility buildings. Max 2 no. A4 page.
– Demonstrate your experience of working on a specialist facility (from 2021 onwards) that accords with the BMS and BIM requirements as set out within the tender documents. Max 1 no. A4 page.
– A method statement detailing of how the team will be managed and how it will interact with project stakeholders, including the University’s project team and ECB. Max 1 no. A4 page.
– Consultant Specific / Innovation – The Consultant will be awarded marks for including any items not specifically listed, but which the Consultant deems that is required for the successful completion of the Project. Also showing Innovation in respect of the Concept design and wider understanding of the project.
– Inclusive Design – demonstrate your experience of working on a specialist facility that accords with the Inclusive design and in-use requirements as set out within the tender documents. Max 1 no. A4 page.
– Fixed-price lump sum fee proposal with hourly rates for variations.
