The Architect’s Chair – #4 Edition
The Architect’s Chair is an international ideas competition that challenges architects and designers to create their own signature chair.
Inspired by the legacy of iconic architect-designed furniture, participants are encouraged to explore innovative materials, construction techniques, and ergonomic solutions to design a functional, aesthetic, and personal piece. The competition acts as a platform for showcasing creativity and architectural philosophy through a single furniture item — the chair — merging architecture, art, and design in a holistic expression of form and function.

Participants may enter as individuals or teams. No formal requirement for a specific professional consultancy team is imposed.

1st Prize – €3k, 2nd Prize: €1.5k, 3rd Prize – €1k
Buildner Student Award – €1k
Buildner Sustainability Award – €500
6 Honourable Mentions (no monetary prize stated)
Deliverables for the Competition:
– One presentation panel (uploaded via the online platform)
– One cover image (min. 2000x1680px, JPG/JPEG, max. 10 MB)
– A written project description including:

– Assignment
– Objectives
– Design concept
– Approach and strategy
– Key features
– Materials and techniques
– Challenges
– Results
– No video files are accepted
– All content must be in English
– All boards must be anonymised
