Technical and Vocational Training Institute, Nicosia
Open consultancy tender to design and supervise the renovation and modernisation of technical education laboratories across Cyprus for improved function, safety and teaching quality.
The Upgrading of the DMTEEK Laboratories – EKT31/25 is a public design and consultancy tender commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus. The project seeks to reimagine and modernise existing laboratories within the Directorate of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training (DMTEEK) across the cities of Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, and Famagusta. These facilities, which support programmes in Hospitality and Catering, Electrical and Electronic Applications, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Arts, and Aesthetics, are to be renewed through comprehensive architectural, mechanical, and electrical design interventions. The appointed consultants will be responsible for delivering detailed design documentation, tender packages for construction works, and full supervision during implementation.
Beyond a technical upgrade, the project aims to transform the laboratories into contemporary learning environments that reflect the evolving demands of vocational education. Emphasis is placed on ergonomic functionality, safety, energy efficiency, and aesthetic coherence, creating spaces that enhance both teaching and practice. The intervention prioritises adaptive reuse and spatial optimisation over new construction, integrating sustainable materials and improved infrastructure to foster creativity and hands-on learning. Co-funded through the EU Cohesion Policy Programme “Thaleia 2021–2027”, the initiative represents a strategic investment in Cyprus’s educational infrastructure and the advancement of applied technical training.
