New Civic and Community Hub, Michałowice
Architectural and urban planning project appointed by an international open design competition in Michałowice, Poland.
Planned for a vacant municipal site on Bukowa Street, the 3-storey Civic and Community Hub with a basement garage will be the center of a new civic quarter. Integrating sustainable materials, accessible design and energy-efficient technologies, the project is the subject of an international, architectural and urban design competition, aiming to revitalise Michałowice’s central area near Warsaw. It envisions a multifunctional public building with cultural, social and administrative spaces, complemented by landscaped public areas, parking and supporting infrastructure. The competition’s first stage seeks visionary urban concepts for the wider centre, while the second stage invites selected teams to develop a complete architectural proposal for the new Civic and Community Hub, designed to act as a catalyst for Michałowice’s long-term social and spatial regeneration.
