Strokestown Park House
An urgent conservation-led procurement to appoint a design team for the roof restoration of the historic Strokestown Park House in County Roscommon.
This project involves the rehabilitation and restoration of the roof of Strokestown Park House, a protected 18th-century Palladian structure which also houses the National Famine Museum. The structure is suffering from water ingress, timber decay, and structural issues, as identified in a 2022 structural report by Punch Consulting Engineers. The goal is to arrest further deterioration and carry out necessary repairs before winter 2025. The programme spans design, planning consultation, procurement of a contractor, and construction from July to November 2025. The brief calls for best practice in heritage conservation, with rapid mobilisation to allow on-site works before adverse weather begins.
