New University Campus, Valencia
Architectural services tender for the design of a new multi-storey research, innovation and business incubation building at UPV’s Vera campus in Valencia, Spain.
The Universitat Politècnica de València has commissioned the design of a new research and innovation building, Building 8S, on its Campus de Vera in Valencia, Spain. Located on a buildable plot fronting Avinguda dels Tarongers, the project forms part of the university’s long-term strategy to strengthen links between scientific research, innovation and economic value creation. The building is conceived as a key piece of academic infrastructure, addressing existing spatial and functional deficiencies in the university’s research-to-market ecosystem.
The proposed scheme comprises a basement, ground floor and five upper storeys, accommodating shared prototyping facilities, flexible workshop and laboratory spaces, business incubation areas, and spaces dedicated to innovation, technology transfer and business development. The architectural commission covers the preparation of both the basic design and the detailed execution project, including all technical documentation required under Spanish public sector procurement legislation, enabling the project to proceed to a future construction phase. The brief places emphasis on design quality, environmental sustainability, and a robust methodological approach, positioning the building as a contemporary, adaptable hub for interdisciplinary research and enterprise within the Campus de Vera.
