New University Buildings, Porto
Architectural competition for the design and BIM-based delivery of 3 new university buildings in Porto, Portugal.
The project envisions the creation of 3 key additions to the University of Porto’s engineering campus, buildings N, Alfa and Beta, composed with new landscaped open areas. Building N will transform an existing covered car park into an archive for the main library, integrating performance upgrades and sustainable systems. Buildings Alfa and Beta will introduce new teaching, research and departmental spaces, incorporating laboratories, study areas and landscaped public spaces. Designed to achieve high environmental and energy performance standards, the development adopts full BIM coordination and targets environmental/sustainability certification. The competition seeks innovative architectural solutions that strengthen the campus’s spatial cohesion, prioritising accessibility, flexibility and long-term sustainability while enhancing the academic environment in Porto, Portugal.
