New Sustainable School, Rastatt
This two-stage public procurement seeks a general planning team to deliver a sustainable new-build special school in Rastatt, Germany.
The Landratsamt Rastatt is commissioning a new-build Pestalozzi School in Rastatt, Baden-Württemberg, to meet rising demand for specialist education provision for children with intellectual disabilities. Located within the existing campus of the Rastatt Commercial Training College, the project will replace an outdated park deck structure and deliver a three-storey accessible school building with teaching classrooms, therapy and retreat spaces, administrative areas, technical infrastructure, and full dining and kitchen facilities. Designed as a long-term public-sector investment, the scheme must provide a robust, economical and operationally reliable learning environment tailored to pupils with additional needs.
The brief also includes the complete integration of external works, with new schoolyard and landscape design, safe drop-off and traffic circulation, fire service access, and coordinated site infrastructure. Sustainability is a central requirement, with the client emphasising low-complexity construction, durable and recyclable materials, and compliance with funding eligibility standards. The project will be delivered through a two-stage negotiated procurement procedure, appointing a multidisciplinary general planning team covering architecture, landscape, structural engineering, building services, and fire safety design.
