New Primary School Oberbillwerder, Hamburg
This primary school and landscape project, for the Oberbillwerder garden district, is being procured through this tender by the city of Hamburg, Germany.
Set within the emerging Garten-Quartier of Hamburg’s ambitious Oberbillwerder district, this project envisions a new primary school, designed to accommodate 4 to 5 classes per year group, across the full primary age range (6–10 years old), at the heart of a model “Active City” neighbourhood. The scheme comprises approximately 5.9k m² of educational space, including classrooms, specialist facilities, administration and communal areas, complemented by a canteen and a 660 m² sports hall. Movement and physical activity are embedded throughout, with additional internal spaces dedicated to play and exercise. Occupying a 15k m² site, the school is conceived as both a civic anchor and a catalyst for community life within this new urban quarter. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2030, with completion scheduled for 2032.
