This competition calls for the design of a new 9-room daycare centre with associated and outdoor areas in Kirn, Germany.
The City of Kirn has launched a design competition for a new 9-room daycare centre with integrated landscape design on a 7.75 m² site west of the town centre. Bordered by a sports ground and secondary school to the east, a public car park and event space to the west, and the Hahnenbach to the south, the site presents a varied urban-edge condition. The scheme comprises approximately 1.65 m² of internal accommodation, alongside circulation, ancillary and technical spaces, and extensive outdoor play areas. The brief calls for a contemporary, sustainable building that responds to its setting, supports modern pedagogical approaches, and acts as a civic catalyst for environmentally responsible development within Kirn.

Qualification Deliverables:

Project References (1 A3 board each):
– 1 building project from the lead architect: minimum construction value of €2.5 million
– 1 external works project from the landscape architect: minimum construction value of €0.25 million
– Each board must present a brief explanatory text, diagrams and photos of the completed projects
Design Competition Deliverables:
– Authorship declaration and professional registration certificates (2 copies)
– Full list of submitted materials: supporting documents, digital files (USB), physical model, printed presentation boards (2 A0) and a reduced version of the same boards (2 A3)
– Area schedules and metric Calculations: key project metrics, area breakdowns, colour-coded spatial diagrams (per template)
– Physical Model at 1:500 scale (the base will be provided by the organiser)
