Jamno Interchange Transport Hub, Koszalin
Design competition for a landmark multimodal transport hub integrating waterfront infrastructure, tourism gateway functions and sustainable urban development in Koszalin, Poland.
Set on the edge of Lake Jamno in the northern district of Koszalin, this competition seeks a landmark architectural and urban proposal for a new multimodal transport interchange that will act as a gateway between the city and the Baltic coastal resorts. Conceived as both infrastructure and civic destination, the project must integrate a range of transport modes, including local and regional buses, private vehicles, cycling networks, pedestrian routes and a water tram connection, within a coherent and legible spatial framework. Occupying a strategically significant yet environmentally sensitive location, directly adjacent to an existing marina with its protected ecological systems, the scheme calls for particular attention in developing ecological mitigation measures, as well as in integrating flood protection. The programme includes the reconfiguration of existing infrastructure, such as a bus turning loop, parking areas and waterfront access, alongside the introduction of new elements including piers, floating platforms and connections to the water tram system.
