Competition to find an architect led team for the preparation of a development vision for the entire site of the Antwerpen - Tropisch Instituut.
The Institute of Tropical Medicine wants to have a development vision drawn up for the site in the centre of Antwerp, with a view to bringing together and strengthening scientific, medical and educational activities. In addition, this assignment includes the renovation of the Art Deco buildings. The construction of new laboratories is also planned, but the design assignment for this is still conditional.

Submission Criteria
Five candidates will progress to competition stage, each will receive €30k.
Qualification Criteria:
– Declarations
– Architect’s Registration Details
– A concise note that shows how you read the assignment and what challenges/ambitions this assignment raises for you. (2000 characters)
– Three references:
1. Demonstrates that you have experience with spatially facilitating a mixed program in a building or on a site.
2. Demonstrates that you have experience with integrating new construction into an existing (heritage) context
3. Open to any project you deem relevant.
The references may be realized, under construction or in (preliminary) design phase. Competition entries are also eligible. Designs that you made at another agency or employer may also be used.
