Historic Civic Centre Refurbishment, Heek
A negotiated architectural tender for the sensitive extension and refurbishment of a historic civic centre serving community organisations in Heek, Germany.
The Municipality of Heek is commissioning the extension and refurbishment of the Eppingscher Hof, a historic civic and community centre with longstanding cultural significance at the heart of the town. The building accommodates a wide range of local clubs, associations and public activities and is intensively used throughout the year. The project seeks to enhance the functionality, capacity and long-term viability of the complex through a sensitive architectural intervention that respects its heritage value while responding to contemporary spatial, technical and accessibility requirements.
The commission covers full architectural design services equivalent to RIBA Stages 2–8, with post-completion services offered as an option, and includes close coordination with heritage authorities throughout the design and delivery process. The scope comprises both new-build elements and the refurbishment of existing fabric, requiring careful integration of old and new within an established urban and historical context. The architect will be appointed through a two-stage negotiated procurement process, with teams selected on the basis of relevant experience, technical capability and organisational capacity to deliver a complex public refurbishment project.
