Halle Multicultural Facility, Barentin
The restructuring of former industrial building into a multicultural facility in the Normandy region of France.
The facility will host a four-screen cinema (875m²) and a museum centre (600 m²) integrating the town’s museums plus ancillary facilities (1,200 m²). These will be contained in two reimagined historic industrial buildings which are currently dilapidated and unused - "La Halle" and "Le Cube", and their outdoor spaces interfaced with a public park through a new forecourt.
The Halle building is formed by two halls and an interior street, all covered by an “M” roof, built between the 19th and 20th centuries. Originally used as a spinning mill, the building housed finished products and also raw materials in the large hall, and a forge/unwinding workshop in the small hall.
