East England Deer Larder Design
The Forestry Commision are seeking a design team to deliver RIBA Stage 3-4 proposals at two sites, Wendover Woods and Abbots Wood
The East England Deer Larder Design is a key initiative under Forestry England’s Deer Larder Investment Programme. The goal is to replace outdated and undersized deer larder facilities that no longer comply with current food hygiene standards and operational needs. The project involves developing finalised RIBA Stage 3 and 4 designs for new modular deer larders at two sites: Wendover Woods and Abbots Wood. The designs must meet future-proofed operational needs, align with sustainability goals (including net zero ambitions), and be replicable across other districts. They also aim to support the delivery of the British Quality Wild Venison Standard while promoting inclusivity and ergonomic efficiency for diverse user groups.
