Barrington Parish Council is commissioning a comprehensive design and planning consultancy service for either the refurbishment or replacement of its Village Hall, a non-listed yet significant community structure located within a conservation area overlooking the Village Green. The hall is in disrepair, and funds secured through s106 contributions must be used effectively. Two development routes—retaining the 1928 building or constructing a new facility—are being considered, with cost models suggesting similar overall expenditures. The proposed design must accommodate multifunctional spaces, including halls, a café, early years provision, and community meeting areas. The appointed team will handle planning applications, construction tender documentation, project management, and compliance to deliver the project within a two-year timeframe.
