Qualification for a competition to design the restoration and extension of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kotiwice in southern Poland.
The competition is for the development of an architectural concept for the expansion of the campus of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. The project aims to enhance the institution’s teaching and design facilities through new spatial and functional solutions. The objective is to create a modern, inspiring, and sustainable educational environment that meets contemporary standards for art and design education, supporting both academic activities and the broader creative community.
The project encompasses both the redevelopment of an existing partially completed structure and the construction of new buildings and spaces that integrate seamlessly into the urban context and natural surroundings. The new facility is expected to house state-of-the-art studios, labs for prototyping and new media, inclusive communal spaces, workshop zones for sculpture, ceramics, and product design, as well as exhibition and public interaction areas.

Five teams will be shortlisted.
1st Prize – £12k, 2nd Prize – £8k, 3rd Prize – £6k + 2no. honorable mentions of £3k.
Qualifying Stage:
– Submit a formal request to participate (Załącznik nr 1)
– Provide a power of attorney, if applicable (Załącznik nr 2)
– Submit a declaration of meeting participation requirements (Załącznik nr 3)
– If relying on third-party resources, submit a resource access commitment (Załącznik nr 3a)
– Sign and include statements of compliance and declarations (Załącznik nr 4)
Competition Stage:
– Architectural concept in line with the detailed competition brief
– Presentation boards (plans, visualizations, sections)
– Descriptive and technical documentation
– Cost estimates (preliminary)
– Work in paper and digital formats
– Anonymous submission with unique identification code
