Edifício de Exploração, Estação de Tratamento de Águas Residuais, Dümpelfeld
Germany's Verbandsgemeinde Adenau is rebuilding and expanding its central wastewater treatment plant in Dümpelfeld, including a new operating building, after flood damage. Deadline 28 Sep 2026
The Verbandsgemeinde Adenau is undertaking a significant project to rebuild, modify, and expand its central wastewater treatment plant, "Adenauer Bach," located in Dümpelfeld, Germany. This initiative follows the devastating Ahr Valley flood in July 2021, which severely damaged critical infrastructure at the plant, including the operating building, transformer station, control room, emergency power generator, and blower stations. The expansion is crucial as the plant will now also process wastewater from the neighbouring Altenahr municipality, whose facilities were completely destroyed and are not being rebuilt. The upgraded plant will increase its capacity to approximately 27,000 population equivalents. The project aims to achieve an energetically and economically optimised, climate-neutral operation, incorporating artificial intelligence for process optimisation and enhanced energy efficiency. Planning for the project is intended to utilise Building Information Modelling (BIM). This specific tender focuses on architectural services, covering design phases 1-9, for the new operating building, including the interior design of the laboratory and control room, and developing a comprehensive facade concept for all high-rise structures within the plant.
