The University of Washington is inviting architectural firms to submit Statements of Qualifications for design services for the wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House Phase 2. This significant project, utilising the General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) contracting method, continues a long-held vision to establish a dedicated centre on the University's Seattle campus for American Indian and Alaska Native students, faculty, and staff, as well as broader community engagement. Phase 1, the Gathering Building, opened in 2015, providing a multipurpose hall, teaching space, and administrative offices. Phase 2 is planned to be situated opposite the outdoor gathering circle and will encompass student study lounges, a community and learning room, an art lab, a multigenerational meeting room, and additional administrative offices. The project also includes the development of outdoor spaces to facilitate art activities, student gatherings, and general landscape enhancements, further enriching the campus environment.
