Kindergarten Max und Moritz, Haldensleben
Stadt Haldensleben in Germany is commissioning a design competition for the new Max and Moritz kindergarten, replacing an outdated facility. Deadline 13 Oct 2026
The German municipality of Haldensleben is launching a design competition for the construction of the new Max and Moritz Kindergarten. This project aims to replace the current dilapidated facility, a three-storey prefabricated building erected in 1985, which suffers from accessibility issues and an inefficient layout across multiple levels. The new kindergarten, designed for 160 children and 27 staff, including a crèche, must be strategically located on the site to allow the existing building to remain operational throughout the construction phase. The brief stipulates that the design should be no more than two storeys high, with a lift required for any two-storey proposals, and ensure full barrier-free access for at least one crèche and one kindergarten group. Following a restricted, one-stage architectural design competition, a negotiated procedure will be conducted with the top three entrants, with the overall construction budget for cost groups 300 and 400 estimated at
€6.8 million gross.
