The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission seeks architectural and engineering services for the planning, design, and construction oversight of a new multi-building Columbus Developmental Center. This project involves replacing the existing facility, founded in 1857, which currently occupies 76 acres with 20 buildings and 200,000 square feet, licensed for 125 beds for broader developmental disability care. The new facility will be a modern, high-functioning space, incorporating residential, program, activity, administrative, and other support buildings. The initiative will involve the demolition of most vacated buildings after the new structures are occupied. This complex project may require a two-phase approach for demolition, extensive site development, and new utility/infrastructure work before the main building construction can commence.
