Sustainable Technology Centre, Poznań
Poznań University of Technology in Poland is expanding its WAIWIZ building to create a new Sustainable Technology and Innovation Centre, including protective structures. Deadline 11 Sep 2026
The project involves the design and construction of the Centre for Sustainable Technology Development and New Technologies and Innovation (CZRNTI PP) at Poznań University of Technology. This significant expansion of the existing WAIWIZ building on the Warta Campus in Poznań will create a modern science and education, laboratory-research facility. A key feature of the new building is its classification as a protective structure, incorporating two shelters and two hiding places at the basement level. These underground areas are designed to serve a primary function during normal operations and a critical protective role during emergencies. The comprehensive scope of work includes the development of multi-discipline design documentation, extensive construction activities, and the integration of various infrastructure elements. This encompasses new roads, fire access routes, parking facilities, pavements, and detailed landscaping. Furthermore, the project involves the installation of new technical infrastructure, the relocation of existing utilities, and the removal of disused installations. A notable addition is an underground connector linking the Faculty of Architecture and Faculty of Management Engineering (WAIWIZ) to the new CZRNTI PP, along with a support structure for photovoltaic panels and generator rooms. The project is committed to sustainable development, adhering to the "Do No Significant Harm" (DNSH) principles across six environmental objectives, ensuring an environmentally responsible approach throughout its execution. The overall programme includes administrative approvals, obtaining necessary permits, comprehensive acceptance procedures, and a 60-month period for maintenance and system reviews post-completion.
