The project concerns the comprehensive renovation, extension and upward expansion of the State Secondary School of Fine Arts named after Piotr Potworowski in Poznań, located in the historic Junikowo district in the western part of the city. Originally constructed in 1934 and subsequently extended in the post-war period, the existing school complex is reorganised and enlarged to respond to contemporary educational, spatial and technical requirements. The brief calls for a substantial increase in usable floor area to approximately 4,700 square metres, while retaining the character of the existing southern wing and carefully integrating new built volumes within the established urban and landscape context. The site is defined by Junikowska Street to the west and open green and sports areas to the east, with the project forming part of a wider educational and cultural setting.

The expanded programme introduces new specialist art and teaching studios, drawing and manual workshops, computer rooms, a library, staff facilities and generous exhibition and gallery spaces, organised around a central glazed circulation and display zone. A combined sports hall and auditorium forms a key multifunctional element of the scheme, supporting both educational and public uses. The project also includes a reconfiguration of the surrounding site, prioritising landscaped green areas, outdoor sports and recreational spaces, and a minimal number of on-site parking spaces. The commission encompasses the full scope of architectural and engineering design services, from early concept design through building permit and detailed technical design, cost planning and specifications, to author’s site supervision during construction.
