Sansuni Sound Sculpture, Latvia
This competition explores how architectural forms can generate sound, inviting designs that serve as both visual and auditory landmarks for Sansusī.
Celebrated for its innovative fusion of classical chamber music with the liberating atmosphere of a rock festival, Sansusī has evolved from an event into a cherished cultural phenomenon. Surrounded by forest, attendees experience a range of performances, from orchestral to contemporary, set against Latvia’s natural beauty.
Following the success of an architectural competition to design the festival’s food court, Buildner has launched a competition for the design of a stage the reflects the festival’s innovative spirit. The sculptural stage should function as a musical instrument, enhancing the acoustic experience. The design should align with themes of sustainability, creativity and community engagement.
The stage should be designed as two platforms of 5 x 5 metres, and should feature a 8 x 3m bar area with lockable storage and flexible seating to accommodate 400 - 600 people. Materiality is required to be durable do to the outdoor location in the forest.
1st Place - €5k, 2nd Place €2.5k, 3rd Place - €1k. Plus Sustainability Award of €500.
