Old Fire Station Cultural Centre, Grevenbroich
A design competition for extending and modernising the historic Alte Feuerwache into an accessible cultural venue in Grevenbroich, Germany.
The City of Grevenbroich is undertaking the modernisation and extension of the historic Alte Feuerwache, transforming the former fire station into a vibrant cultural and community venue. The project includes refurbishing existing interiors, expanding the main event hall, and adding a new foyer with terrace overlooking the Ian Hamilton Finlay Park. The upper floor will be reconfigured to host flexible seminar and workspaces, while the entire building will be made fully accessible and energy efficient. The scheme forms part of the city’s wider regeneration strategy in the Rhineland industrial region, strengthening local identity and supporting cultural infrastructure following the energy transition. The selected architect will provide full design and supervision services.
