An open competition that seeks innovative designs for a new cultural building and school refurbishments forming the Education and Culture Campus in St. Peter in der Au., Austria.
The project will establish the Bildungs- und Kulturcampus St. Peter in der Au as a central hub for education and community life. It combines the construction of a new building on the site of the former fire station housing the public library, music school, and Musikverein with the adaptation and modernisation of parts of the existing secondary school (NMS/PTS). The scheme also addresses mobility and public realm upgrades at Vogelhändlerplatz and surrounding streets, creating safer, more accessible, and more engaging open spaces. The campus is intended to serve both pupils and the wider community, offering flexible, sustainable, and multi-purpose facilities that integrate cultural and educational functions into a unified civic environment.

Submission Criteria
5 teams will be selected to the second phase.
Each selected team will receive €7k + prize Money
1st prize – €5k, 2nd prize – €3k, 3rd prize – €1k
1st Stage Deliverables:
– Short statement: one A4 page, structured by the evaluation criteria
– Key figures: demonstrate BGF/BRI calculation basis
– Check plans: DWG/DXF of all floors + site plan
– List of contents of the submission
One A0 presentation board (PDF) including:
– site plan (1:1,000)
– At least one systems section (1:500)
– All storey plans (e.g., axonometric/schematic at 1:500) with programme zoning
– No renderings permitted (any submitted will be masked)
2nd Stage Deliverables:
– Short statement (A4)
– Key/ratio values on supplied forms
– Check Plans (incl. DWG/DXF)
– Physical context/massing model 1:500 to the competition specs
Two A0 PDFs with:
– Site plan 1:500
– Floor plans/organisation and all proposed/altered areas at 1:200 (with room demarcation and programme fit)
– Relevant sections/elevations 1:200
– Mandatory perspective from the specified viewpoint (plus one optional additional view/visual)
