National History Museum Western Galleries
A design tender seeking a multidisciplinary team to develop feasibility proposals for the regeneration of the Western Galleries at London’s Natural History Museum, in preparation for the Museum’s 150th anniversary programme.
The Natural History Museum (NHM) is initiating a feasibility project for the regeneration of its Western Galleries—comprising the Dinosaur Gallery, Origins Gallery, Old General Herbarium, and the WQG rooms. The programme forms part of NHM’s broader NHM150 strategic vision, aligning with goals for environmental sustainability, accessibility, and modernisation of visitor experiences. The selected design team will be tasked with preparing a feasibility design proposal that supports the development of a comprehensive masterplan for these historic Grade I listed galleries. This work will also inform the Museum's internal and external stakeholder engagement, funding applications, and long-term capital planning. The existing spaces include significant exhibition and back-of-house areas, spanning multiple floors with complex heritage and operational constraints.
