Machreth School Housing
Cyngor Gwynedd is inviting tenders for architectural and lead designer services for the conversion of the former Machreth School and adjacent site in Llanfachreth into up to six affordable housing units.
The project involves the adaptive reuse of the historic 1847-built Llanfachreth School and adjacent property, which includes a house and grounds, into affordable housing to be retained and managed by Cyngor Gwynedd. In addition to refurbishing the school building, the scheme proposes the construction of new units on the adjoining car park site. The scope includes delivering up to six units of 2–3-bedroom homes that meet Welsh Development Quality Requirements (WDQR 2021) and Welsh Housing Quality Standards (WHQS 2023), with a focus on sustainability, adaptability, and energy efficiency. Proposals must reflect the vision of the Tŷ Gwynedd initiative, incorporating design sensitivity to the rural setting and maximizing community benefits.
