Qualification for a design competition to create new buildings for engineering and social sciences as well as central facilities.
The project involves the expansion of the University of Applied Sciences in Kempten to cover the additional space requirements, with a room program with a total usable area of approx. 8,106m². The programme for the new building will include areas for laboratories, lecture halls, seminar rooms, administration and rooms for teaching and research-related services, as well as a cafeteria and a childcare facility. The approved upper cost limit with estimated total construction costs (KG 200-KG 600) is around €122.5 million.
The brief requires a thorough approach to ecological, economic and socio-cultural quality - with functional, sustainable, innovative and creative solutions. In order to find an appropriate solution, a design competition is planned. The competition is aimed at groups of applicants from architecture and landscape architecture offices.

Submission Criteria
A maximum number of 25 participants will be admitted who meet the selection criteria specified for the selection process, of which five have already been selected: 1) Code Unique Architekten, Dresden + RSP Freiraum Landschaftsarchitektur, Dresden 2) Glass Kramer Löbbert Architekten, Berlin + SINAI Landschaftsarchitekten, Berlin 3) Heid + Heid Architekten, Führt + Uniola Landschaftsarchitektur, Munich 4) Karlundp Architekten, Munich + toponauten landscape architecture, Freising 5) Schulz and Schulz architects, Leipzig + r+b landscape s architecture, Dresden.
Technical requirements for architects:
Presentation of reference projects, of which at least one must be a new building with construction costs over €25m, delivered within the last ten years.
A total of 520,000 euros is available as the competition prize. Of this, a processing fee of a total of 10,000 euros is available to each selected competition participant who submits an eligible competition entry. The remaining portion of the competition funds is available for prizes and recognition.
