Kaarina High School
The renovation of Kaarinan Lukio, a high school in southwest Finland, to include laboratory space for natural sciences.
At the moment, the high school does not have laboratory space for natural sciences which is necessary for the implementation of the curriculum. The facilities for these subjects should be located close to each other, and storage facilities for the equipment of these subjects are needed in connection with the laboratory space. In addition, there is a need for quiet spaces suitable for students and teachers to work on their own, as well as social spaces for teachers and storage space, e.g. for the 300 chairs and 150 desks in use at the time of university mock exams. In addition, the existing school hall does not meet adaptability requirements. The learning areas/environments to be built/renovated in the high school building and the spaces suitable for hobbies must be flexible and adaptable so that they functionally serve all the groups which use the premises.
The building is a one-story brick-lined school building from 1985, with a volume of 18,272m³ and a floor area of 3,484m².
