The project will focus on improving the function of the Main Street and Carnmore Road junction in Dungloe, with the aim of alleviating traffic congestion, improving safety and creating a pleasant public environment.

The Council recently acquired a vacant property on the southern side of the junction. The end project envisages demolition of the recently acquired vacant property, an improved and widened junction arrangement with easier vehicle turning and appropriate pedestrian crossing infrastructure together with a new ‘pocket’ civic space and attractive public realm with potential for rest, small events, supporting festivals and performing as a navigation point for tourists. It is envisaged that the end project, would be designed in accordance with DMURS and would embrace principles of shared surfaces, level crossings and high-quality finishes creating a highly architectural space with capacity for social and commercial purpose complimenting the wider town centre environment.
