Craft and Conference Centre, Širvintos
Open competition for the development of a former civic-use complex into a contemporary non-formal education centre.
The project concerns the redevelopment of a former public-use building complex, comprising several buildings including a fire station and storage structures, into a new facility dedicated to non-formal education in the town of Širvintos. The design brief allows for either full reconstruction or demolition and new construction, depending on technical justifications and conservation of existing structures. At least 50% of the building’s total floor area must be allocated to non-formal education, with a priority on traditional Lithuanian crafts. In addition, a flexible multifunctional hall equipped for cinema/conference/performance use (with a screen, stage, projector, seating system), should be designed to be easily reconfigured. The facility will also host wellness rooms, creative workshops, retail, refreshment, and administration areas.
