Colentina Lakes, Bucharest
Open international design competition for the landscape design of a lakeside urban amenity in Bucharest Romania, in three separate lots.
Organised by the Romanian Order of Architects (OAR) with the support of the Bucharest Territorial Branch of the OAR, together with the Contracting Authority - this competition targets the shores of the six lakes of Colentina. The stake of the competition is to redefine the role of these lake shores, seen both as a natural resource that presents a great ecological, sanitary, aesthetic-landscape, economic and social potential for the sector/city, as well as as an active interface between the established or ongoing urban fabric of development and the water of the Colentina lakes, as an element of attraction for the inhabitants.
Consequently, the Contracting Authority aims through this competition for the landscaping of the shores of the Colentina lakes along the entire length for restoring the continuity of the public path along the shores by creating a green-blue promenade to support locally and various recreational and sociability activities, harmoniously integrating into the existing natural setting and improving the relationship between the lake shores and urban neighborhoods through local planning proposals.
