Cinema Corso Cultural Incubator, Vicenza
An international two-stage open competition to requalify the historic Cinema Corso in Vicenza, Italy, into a flexible cultural hub for contemporary arts.
The competition, promoted by the Fondazione Giuseppe Roi, concerns the adaptive reuse of the Cinema Corso in Corso Fogazzaro, Vicenza. Originally designed in 1946 by Guido Pravato in the intalian rationalist style, the cinema has long been abandoned. The brief calls for its transformation into a contemporary art incubator: a flexible laboratory for visual arts, performance, digital media, workshops, and artist residencies. The project must preserve the protected façade on Corso Fogazzaro while restructuring the interior with modern systems, improved sustainability, and inclusive access. The focus is on creating a dynamic infrastructure that supports evolving cultural practices while respecting heritage.
