Burnley Civic Quarter
Burnley Borough Council is seeking the services of a suitability qualified landscape architect to develop concept plans/designs for public spaces identified within Burnley’s Civic Core.
The Consultant will be expected to undertake the following tasks:
- To undertake research into Burnley’s culture and heritage to help inform designs.
- Consult with key stakeholders/partner organisations through workshops. Key partners will include Burnley Borough Council, Lancashire County Council, Burnley Business Improvement District, Burnley Civic Trust, Burnley Central Library, Central Methodist Church, Burnley Cultural Consortia, Burnley Leisure & Culture and Burnley College.
- Develop concept designs up to RIBA Stage 3 along with a written narrative/methodology to support proposals for the two areas that have been identified within the Civic Core, 1) Peace Garden, located at Burnley Central Library, and 2) area to the front of Burnley Central Methodist Church (see Appendix 1).
- To provide outline/estimate costings to implement the proposals.
- To identify further opportunities where environmental enhancements could potentially be incorporated within the Civic Core to enhance the setting of notable buildings and improve visitor experience. For example, building lighting, planting, pocket habitats.
