Breite Strasse Comprehensive School, Mönchengladbach
A multidisciplinary team will be selected to design a new educational facility in the municipality of Mönchengladbach, Germany.
The Breite Strasse Comprehensive School in Mönchengladbach will establish a educational campus for both lower and upper secondary levels, designed to accommodate nine classes across approximately 27.5k m². Located near the university campus and Grenzland Stadium, the scheme will transform a former sports ground into a contemporary learning environment combining architecture, landscape and technology. A multidisciplinary general planning team will coordinate architectural, structural, and environmental engineering alongside landscape and urban integration, guaranteeing a cohesive spatial and technical concept. The project begins with a 2 year modular interim school, enabling classes to start in 2026, followed by phased construction of permanent facilities, including a 12k m² main building and 2.4k m² triple sports hall, creating a vibrant civic and educational landmark for Mönchengladbach’s southern district.
