Aquitanis Technical Centre, Bordeaux
Aquitanis is procuring an execution architect to transform a purchased professional premises into a consolidated technical centre in Bordeaux, France.
Aquitainis, the public housing authority for Bordeaux Métropole, has initiated the transformation of an existing professional premises at 32 Rue Roger Touton into a new multifunctional Technical Centre designed to consolidate three previously scattered municipal services: the Urban Nature Maintenance Unit, the Central Logistics Store, and the Municipal Archives. The adaptive-reuse project reimagines a 2,773 m² industrial-type structure as a strategically organised operational hub, bringing workshop facilities, secure storage zones, archive repositories, vehicle accommodation, office areas, and staff welfare spaces under one roof. The proposal addresses complex functional relationships, from material flows and vehicle manoeuvring to ergonomic layouts and archive conservation requirements, while ensuring compliance with fire safety, accessibility, and environmental performance standards.
The appointed design and delivery team will lead the project from technical design through procurement and construction, fulfilling the complete suite of execution-phase services: Technical Design, Tender Assistance, Technical Approval of contractor drawings, Contract Administration, Construction Planning & Coordination, and Handover Management. Beyond the architectural refit, the project aims to embody a contemporary model of rationalised public infrastructure, optimising spatial efficiency, improving working conditions for municipal teams, and supporting Aquitanis’ commitment to sustainable, long-life building adaptation. The result is a civic facility that elevates functional architecture into a coherent, carefully choreographed environment for daily public service operations.
